Founded in 2008 by a group of women from the Cathedral, and friends from other churches and the community in general, the Friends of the Cathedral raises funds which they use to assist charitable projects and organizations throughout the country. The Cathedral has benefitted from this group as has the Girls Home of the Capital which is affiliated with the Episcopal Diocese of Panama. The main source of income comes a thrift shop, located adjacent to the Cathedral in the Bishop Gooden Center, which they operate on a monthly basis selling donations of clothing, household items, children’s´ toys and other goods primarily to government employees who work in the area.
