Our Beliefs & Values
The Cathedral is the principal church of the Diocese of Panama. Panama is one of five dioceses that make up the Anglican Church in Central America (IARCA), a Province of the Worldwide Anglican Communion. The dioceses of IARCA are Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Panama. The Province became autonomous from The Episcopal Church (TEC) January, 1998. The Province is headed by an elected Primate. Each diocese has an elected Bishop.
Bishop Julio Murray is the diocesan. There are nineteen active Priests, five Deacons, three Lay Pastoral Ministers. The diocese is made up of two parishes, twenty-seven missions and four preaching stations. It counts in its membership 1,609 communicants and 1,354 average attendance. While most of these Central American dioceses were founded by TEC they have deep Anglican ties and Caribbean culture brought by immigrants who, in Panama, worked on the canal, for fruit companies, and for other commercial enterprises.
